RSA 2014: Looking for True Innovation in Endpoint Security?

Posted by Tom Bain   |   February 25, 2014

RSAC-2014-US-logo-black-square-no-date-mediumRSA is here. It’s all about the latest and greatest security technologies, big personalities, networking, education. But really, it’s about opportunity and innovation.

Global attackers have afforded us that opportunity, and have put organizations in such a state of continuous compromise that now more than ever, it’s time for companies to re-think traditional security models.

RSA keynoters will hit on similar themes (those who haven’t pulled out and are taking their talents to TrustyCon) like:

  •        Private/public partnership with government
  •        Getting better at detecting advanced persistent threats
  •        Privacy (especially respecting this notion in security software)

However, you may find some anecdotal examples and use cases throughout some of the keynotes and sessions at RSA, but to really hear about, and actually see innovation in action, the expo floor becomes the breeding ground for innovation.

Sure, there will be vendors shilling their solution. You’ll hear a lot of buzzwords. You’ll see some booth babes. And you could probably fill a U-Haul with vendor schwagg throughout Moscone. See through all of that, and you’ll find companies truly innovating in security.

The reality is this is largest collection of security vendors all year, in the same location. I’ve always viewed it as a great opportunity to separate fluff from substance, and hear about new approaches to solving difficult problems.

CounterTack is taking a different approach to solving some of the biggest security challenges global organizations face, bringing attack context and visibility to the endpoint to give defenders a leg up on countering persistent attacks. We’re truly doing something different, and we want to show the market how – so we’ll be demo’ing Sentinel, our enterprise-class real-time endpoint threat detection and response platform at the CounterTack booth, which is #933, South Hall.

Our goal is give folks an inside look at how Sentinel detects and analyzes known and unknown threats to enterprise systems, providing attack context and unprecedented visibility to make better security decisions.

We’ll have a number of events happening throughout our biggest presence yet at RSA – so come see us, grab a latte or a cappuccino on CounterTack, and learn more!

We just made two announcements today: We announced an additional $3M as part of closing out our Series B funding, highlighted by Siemens Venture Partners joining our group of investors. We also announced a key partnership with eSentire.

We have two book signings at our booth happening today and tomorrow. Today at 2:00 PM we'll give away signed copies of two of the Hacking Exposed series books, from authors Mike Davis, Sean Bodmer and Stuart McClure. And then tomorrow, we'll have Sean Bodmer signing copies of his Reverse Deception book at 2:00 PM. Its all happening at Booth 933, South Hall, Moscone Center.

We’re raffling off a Google Nexus 7 tablet each day at the expo! Come by and enter for your chance to win one.

We're hosting a cocktail party tonight from 6:00 - 8:30 PM at the Parc 55 Hotel, just minutes from the Moscone Center. Come to the Mission Room on the 4th Floor.

CounterTack is redefining what security means with an approach that is giving organizations a better chance against persistent attackers. If you’re looking to see what the RSA Conference is all about, come give us a look.
